Artist In Residence Program
The design component at Villa Mercedes Petit Hotel is part of an evolving theme. Twice a year an artist is invited to create site-specific interventions in the property. Thus far RHOM Design, a Los Angeles based design firm, installed vintage tile mosaic work among other design interventions throughout the property since 2012. Mexican artist Ana Rifa intervened walls in the lobby and hallways with pre-Hispanic inspired themes executed in a contemporary and playful way through mural art in 2014. In 2015, locally based artist Cristina Pacheco collaborated with us by adding a contemporary themed mural framing our main entrance to the property.
